KZ ZST PRO / Colorful - headphones review test

KZ ZST PRO review
KZ ZST PRO is currently the cheapest headphones from Knowledge Zenith, equipped with both a detachable 0.75mm cable and two transducers. As in most popular models of KZ headphones, we are dealing with a hybrid - in each of the headphones we will find both a dynamic and armature driver.

I bought the headphones out of curiosity, the price was encouraging, at the time of purchase it was just over $ 10.

BASIC INFORMATION:

Parameters: 1DD + 1BA - 1 dynamic transducer and 1 armature transducer per channel, 2-pin 0.75mm connectors for a bent plug. The armature transducer is probably the 30096 model. Impedance is extremely low and amounts to 10 Ohms.

Construction: the headphones are made entirely of plastic, but despite this they give the impression of being quite solid, the elements are well folded. I have no major reservations, but the design does not stand out. Low curb weight does not raise trust, but it improves the comfort of use. CCA C10 are made better - the plates (in this case metal) were mounted more accurately, here the edges can be felt.

7/10

Appearance: the Colorful (Colorful = PRO) version is eye-catching. I like KZ ZST PRO because they definitely stand out in a flood of black and gray headphones. I think that some women would consider KZ ZST PRO as a stylization element.
9/10

Convenience: KZ ZST PRO headphones are quite comfortable, but not so small that they can hide completely in your ear. They protrude beyond the auricle, but once stuck in the ear canal, they remain in it without getting hurt. Due to their low weight (19g), wearing them is quite comfortable (for in-ear headphones).

8/10

Package contents: headphones, cable, silicone pads in 3 sizes. This is the standard KZ / CCA set. On the one hand, it is poor, and on the other hand 90% of the packaging value falls on the headphones, giving us better sound quality. If the set had a case, the product would be more expensive, so you should understand this price policy.

KZ ZST PRO review
SOUND:
The sound should satisfy the majority of music lovers. It is a very entertaining V-style game focused on gimmicks. They are definitely not headphones aspiring to the neutral sound segment. There is a lot of bass and a very detailed, detailed treble. The middle is a bit hidden, but vocals (especially female) are reproduced with great detail. Listening to music can provide a lot of pleasure, but it is playing uncomplicated and undifferentiated, devoid of any flavors, as well as quickly tiring hearing. We will not see any sudden changes in the sound depending on the music you listen to, which can be found in high-end headphones. KZ ZST PRO will always sound the same - entertaining and energetic and will always color the sound. I'm not saying that it's bad, especially for the money - it's just the headphones. Given the price - $ 10 - KZ ZST PRO sound phenomenal.

Bass: was the first thing I noticed when I listened to KZ ZST PRO for the first time. The bass is rich here. It is definitely softer and more elastic than hard and contouring. As a rule, it does not flood the rest of the band, but in heavily bass tracks it lacks some speed. It could also be a bit more withdrawn in its upper range, as there is a light high-bass bleed, but the overall amount of low tones can be more disturbing. The bass in KZ ZST PRO can go down relatively low. These are headphones that should please people who like bass. Quantitatively there is a lot of it, but qualitatively it is not perfect - it could be a bit more disciplined. Despite the large bass, these are not strictly bass headphones, but stretching the bottom causes a squeeze of the midrange.

7/10

Midrange: It is rather dominated by bass and treble, so it may seem a bit compressed and withdrawn, but it is still there. Female voices sound extremely clear, close and intimate. They are often on the border of sibilants, but they still sound correct. In my opinion, men's voices are a bit more distant, they are covered by a delicate mist, but they still sound clearly. Due to the entertaining nature of playing and the exaggerated midrange, I would not be prepared to listen to classical or jazz music on these headphones. Giving headphones similar characteristics is a common phenomenon in budget equipment, so you should not be surprised by such playing.

6/10

Highs: it is decently stretched, we have very good detail and detail here. So the sound is bright and intrusive, but I have already listened to brighter headphones. In my opinion, KS ZST PRO falls within the boundaries of bright-sounding headphones, but there was so much moderation that the sound is still acceptable, although it can be metallic and sharp. It is obvious that with better quality drivers the sound would be more detailed and less aggressive, but we're talking about headphones for $ 10! In this price category, the sound of the upper range is great. With longer listening sessions the treble can be tiring and too insistent.
7/10

The stage: definitely not wide - it is narrow, the instruments usually play in one line. It is playing straight to the head, without the impression that the sounds are around us. To improve anything in the KZ ZST PRO, the bass should be reduced and the midrange emphasized, but this would undoubtedly change the overall sound characteristics.

6/10

Instrument separation: correct, I did not expect more from hybrid headphones at this price. This is not equipment for listening to ambitious music, so such separation is enough.

5.5 / 10

Resolution: it is not the best, so do not expect miracles, the situation save the strongly extended highs.

5.5 / 10

SUMMARY:

KZ ZST PRO are headphones that at a price of around 10 USD can be considered recommendable. They serve music in a definitely entertaining way and should satisfy the majority of people who are looking for cheap headphones with a replaceable cable and will not expect analytical and raw sound. Noteworthy is the clearly sounding treble, displaying in particular female vocals. The sound coming from these headphones is powerful, uncompromising and full of energy. Keep in mind that prolonged listening to KZ ZST PRO can be tiring for your ears. If you are a person who does not tolerate such playing, it will be better to choose something with a more subtle sound signature. Compared to CCA C10 and Tin Audio T2 they sound extremely aggressive and immature, but there is something addictive in this madness. I would compare them to a can of energy drink. The sound from the C10 is covered with a blanket, the sound from the T2 to a lesser extent, but also - both models are much more balanced and show the midrange more clearly.

KZ ZST PRO review
KZ ZST PRO is also a great offer for people who do not want to constantly change headphones because the cable has broken. It is difficult to estimate the durability of the transducers used in these headphones, but the ability to replace the cable should be considered an advantage. Cable prices on Chinese portals start at around $3. At a price of around $7 you can find a bluetooth adapter that when connected to the headphones will make them a wireless set (the cable runs behind the ears, and the main module with the battery is hung on the back of the neck). Then the headphones connect to the phone via bluetooth.

ADVANTAGES:
- very good overall sound quality
- soft and pulsating bass for people who like bass grunts
- clearly dedicated female vocals
- good sound detail
- very low price
- appearance

DISADVANTAGES:
- slightly too withdrawn midrange in relation to the rest of the band
- male votes could be cast in a little more detail
- they play the same in all types of music
- not very sophisticated sound
- not very wide stage
- high tones can be tiring
